I have posted my final update to the Pirate Master Matrix:
http://www.efn.org/~jrgracen/PirateMasterMatrix.htm It took a bit longer than usual for this update since the finale was 2-hours (my Episode Notes include a lot of transcribed quotes from each episode), and I had to reformat my spreadsheet (again) to account for the TWO Expeditions in the finale. Thanks again Pi-rate, for the inspiration to expand upon your work here... Anyway, it is up. Nobody will probably ever see it since the show is over now, but regardless, it is up... I'm new to wiki'ing. Is there a way to revert this page to the previous version (version 64) before "road runner" deleted all the good stuff?

Where are the totals for the pirates that are remaining as of post-Pirates' Court-Episode 6? I need to know them because I am creating a chart that requires every total for pirates, including ones not cut adrift.

Continued from my previous post below. Read it first!...
Following this formula, here is how I distributed the Gold: Azmyth, Ben, and Jay each received 1.5 Shares. The remaining Crew received 1 Share a piece, for a total of 10.5 Shares. Jupiter again received an extra $500 as Ships Cook. $50,000 minus Jupiter’s $500 = $49,500. $49,500 / 10.5 = $4,714.29, the amount of a single Share this week. Each of the Crew received $4,700, Jupiter received her $500 bonus for $5,200. Subtracting that sum of $28,700 from the original $50,000 gives us $21,300 for the Captain and Officers to split, giving them $7,100 each. Kendra bought the Royal Pardon from Nessa for $4,000 to complete the gold exchanges this episode. So, here are the totals per Pirate: $7,100 for Captain Azmyth $7,100 for Officer Ben $7,100 for Officer Jay $5,200 for Ship’s Cook Jupiter $4,700 for Christa $4,700 for Laurel $4,700 for Louie $8,700 for Nessa who Sold the Royal Pardon $700 for Kendra who Bought the Royal Pardon $50,000 Total! Remember, this is just my opinion. Without any evidence in the TV broadcast or in the Online Webclips, there is no right or wrong answer here. This is just what makes sense to me… This is all detailed in my Pirate Master Matrix, which grew out of a simple spreadsheet based on this Online Treasure Tracker (thank you Pi-rate). It has grown a bit more complex since then, as I have added other aspects to it, such as a Ranking System for each of the Pirates (Ben currently ranks #1). Check it out at: http://www.efn.org/~jrgracen/PirateMasterMatrix.htm Let me know what you think! (¯`’·.,¸_,.·´¯`·-> CavemanLogic |

Back in Episode 6, Captain Azmyth and his Officers came up with a new way to divide the treasure. 60% to 40%. As there were six total Pirates on the Winning Crew that episode, the math was easy. A Pirate receiving one of the shares from the 60% pot would get 1.5 times the amount of treasure a Pirate receiving on of the shares from the 40% pot would get. It amounted to Azmyth, Ben, and Jay getting 1.5 Shares each, and the other three pirates getting 1 Share each.
In Episode 7, there were only two other Crew Members. We know the amounts that Jupiter and Laurel received, and can pretty closely ascertain how much Azmyth, Ben, and Jay received. Using our two new methods of calculation, the results are fairly similar if we go by the formula where the Captain and Officers get 60%, Crew gets 40%, or if we go by the formula where the Captain and Officers get 1.5 Shares, and Crew get 1 Share. Episode 8 poses a problem. There was no stated distribution of the Gold in the broadcast. In this episode, there were *six* other Crew Members to split whatever percentage the Captain and Officers decided to give them. Keep in mind that Jupiter’s talk of “Mutiny” didn’t occur until *after* the treasure distribution took place, so that wasn’t a factor which would have caused the Captain and Officers to start taking a Lion’s Share for themselves. I do not believe that the Captain and Officers would have reverted to an equal distribution of the Treasure, as in the early episodes. Nor do I believe that they would have taken what amounts to 3 Shares each, while giving the remaining Crew Members 1 Share each (the results of a 60%-40% split). What I do believe is that the Captain and Officers would have taken something closer to 1.5 Shares each, and given the rest of the crew 1 Share each, maintaining the same relative percentages established in Episode 6. Continued in my next post… (Damn that 2,000 character count limit!) |

Love the Treasure Tracker! It inspired me to create my own Excel spreadsheet. I noticed some discrepancies between your calculations and mine though. You have totals ending in $25 and $50 amounts. It was stated in Episode One that the three sized coins are worth $500, $100, and $20. This was confirmed in Episode Three as the red crew was counting their winnings on deck (they said they were counting the $20 coins into stacks of five). With these three denominations in mind, and assuming the Captain keeps anything left over, here are my figures:
Pirate: Total: Episode 1 winnings + Episode 2 winnings + Episode 3...etc. Alexis: $2,200: $2,000 + $200 + $0 Azmyth: $13,940: $0 + $2,240 + $5,000 + $0 + $6,700 Ben: $18,120: $5,000 + $5,640 + $0 + $820 + $6,660 Cheryl: $10,640: $5,000 + $5,640 + $0 + $0 Christa: $7,240: $0 + $2,240 + $5,000 + $0 +$0 Christian: $200: $0 + $200 Jay: $12,860: $0 + $2,200 + $4,000 + $0 + $6,660 Joe Don: $38,620: $20,000 + $19,120 + $0 + (-$7,000) + $6,500 John: $2,000: $2,000 Joy: $1,020: $0 + $200 + $0 + $820 + $0 Jupiter: $15,900: $2,000 + $2,240 + $5,000 + $0 + $6,660 Kendra: $14,680: $2,000 + $200 + $5,000 + $820 + $6,660 Laurel: $6,860: $0 + $200 + $0 + $0 + $6,660 Louie: $17,140: $2,000 + $2,240 + $5,000 + $7,900 + $0 Nessa: $1,560: $0 + $2,240 + $5,000 + $820 + (-$6,500) Sean: $2,020: $0 + $200 + $1,000 + $820 + $0 Enjoy! | Pi-rate | Why the Officers should also push the captain to split equally | 1 | Jun 23 2007, 4:48 PM EDT by kajudalu | |||

Last week we reached a point in the game where it is always in the best interest of the officers to convince the captain to split the booty equally. By pirate code, the captain earns 1/2 and the officers share 1/2 of what is left:
an individual officer gets 1/8. Now that each expedition team will always halve less than 8 people, officers gain more treasure by splitting equally. 1/7 is larger than 1/8 .. 1/6 is also larger than 1/8, etc. Let's see if the officer's will push for sharing when/if a greedier captain is elected....

Now I get it...they divided the entire total of $35,000 equally among all 7 of them; not just the other 4. I get it. Thanks for clearing that up. :-)

Sean was NOT on the black crew that round. So Sean and Louie should swap that 2K for round 1. |

I think your calculation is flawed. If the Officers gave the other four pirates $2,400 each, then you subtract $9,600 from the Officer's total and if you then divide the remainder, the officers each get $5,550 and the four pirates get $,587.50 each.

kajudalu -
I'm confused by your last edit. And here's why: The total treasure was $35,000. Azymth received $17,500. The two officers each received $4,375 (a quarter of the remaining $17,500). Christa, Kendra, Louie and Nessa each received the remaining share of $2,187.50. But then Azymth decided that he and the officers split their winnings altogether. This value totals to 17,500 + 8,750 = $26,250. If divided equally among the other 4 crew members, each receives $26,250 / 4 = $6,562.50. Now, how can it be that each receives another $2,400 that Azymth and his officers don't even have?!?! I wonder then why you didn't change the totals as well... |
